Top Reasons To Work With A Coach

There is endless information on fitness and nutrition on the internet/social media.  It is understandable for someone to believe that they do not need a coach.  However, there are many styles of training and nutrition.  With so much information, it can be confusing on where to start or what you should start with.  Year after year, many people start their fitness lifestyle journey without a coach and the end result being that they gave up or lost motivation.

Here are the top reasons you should work with a fitness coach.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Everyone starts out motivated.  It is easy to make the right choices with food and make it to every single workout when you are motivated.  Once motivation ends, it is very easy to start saying “I’ll go to the gym tomorrow” or “I’ll eat better next week.”  This cycle of excuses will end with you not seeing the results  you were motivated to get.  Having a coach will help you stay accountable an discipline when motivation wears off.

LEARN PROPER EXERCISE FORM

There are many variations of pull ups, squats, deadlift, bench press, etc.  Which one is the best for you?  What is the difference between each variation?  What is the proper way to breath?  Having a coach will help explain the difference between variation, the proper form/technique, and which is the best for you to get your results.

BOOST CONFIDENCE INSIDE THE GYM

Whether you are new to the gym, or interested in trying a completely new program, the gym can be intimidating.  Working with a coach will break the ice on you new training program.  Once you become comfortable with the new exercises and program, you will feel more confident in the gym.  This will make it a more enjoyable hobby.

OVERCOME TRAINING PLATEAUS

A time will come where you see your progress slowing down or stopping.   Maybe you are not losing anymore weight? Maybe you are not getting any stronger?  You are confused because  you train hard every time at the gym and you have good nutrition.  Your fitness coach will evaluate your program and nutrition and work with you to come up with a game plan to take your training to the next level.

INTENSITY

A big mistake people make with fitness is simply going through the motions.  You have your workout plan all set and go the gym 5 or 6 days per week and not see any results if you are lacking intensity.  Intensity can separate if you burn 200 calories in a workout or 800 calories in a workout. (There are 3500 calories in 1 pound).  Having a coach push you to keep up your intensity will help make sure you are getting the most of out of each workout.

LIFESTYLE HABITS

Maybe you like to have pizza on the weekend with friends. Maybe have your favorite coffee drink from Starbucks.  Maybe you have no self-control with pastries during the week.  Working with a coach will help you set achievable lifestyle goals.  I am a strong believer of having a healthy balance.  However, positive lifestyle habits will help your reach your goal.  If you eat 100% clean Monday – Thursday and eat 100% bad Friday-Sunday, you will not see results.
